LPJ 2013 vs 2014: What's the Difference

Well, the 2013 version has 490T and 498T pickups, comes in 4 colours (cherry, white, chocolate and vintage burst), nitro lacquer, maple neck (50's), rosewood fingerboard and £449 in the UK.Everything else is the same accept the 2014 has a 120th anniversary inlay and has a 1961 Zebra Coil alnico V on both the bridge and neck.

You Pay For What You Get: Gibson and Fender

If you look at some of fenders lower range guitars most of them have a Poly lacquer chips over time (recently happened to me on an acoustic), some people may think this look nice but from what I have heard the majority of us like gibsons because they're expensive and good quality so people think where rich but I happen to only like the sound of lower range Gibsons and Epiphones.

Have you ever seen a famous guitarist playing a squier or Epiphone.Squiers rarely; Epiphones ever so slightly more popular. So what does this say about buying guitars is it for the qualilty or the sound?

Do Online Guitar Tuners Realy work

Well the answer is yes, I wouldn't have a guitar tuner on my page unless it was aid to guitarist or bassists but it also comes with a few problems.

Pros

•High convenience
•Good for intermediates to advanced players
•It's free
•Accurate (depending on which one you use)
•Tune by ear or chromatic tuner style
•Helps beginners get used to names of strings

Cons

•Accuracy decreases when a ¼ mono jack is not used

•Tone may be a bit dodgy (rare)
•Hard to use if you haven't got good speakers (good earphones/headphones should sort this out)

So those are my reasons why online guitar tuner do work.
Hoped you enjoyed it, please comment and share and come back to use my Guitar Tuner

RockSmith 2014 vs BandFuse: Review

Just to get it straight this is for guitarists not gamers or drummers there will soon be one for gamers on TechRevz.blogspot.com
For Beginners
Well, for this one its between RockSmith and RockBand. RockSmith has loads of learning features such as auto-difficulty and mini games RockBand gives you a bit more control though. It's good to get used to a real guitar with RockBand there are no strings on the fretboard and you have to but a special guitar for it.RockBand includes packages with a Epiphone Special in the 2014 version and Gear4Music are offering beginner guitar packages with it, you can also use what ever guitar you want with it.So:

RockSmith wins!

For Intermediates
This is between RockSmith(Again) and BandFuse. If you started learning with RockSmith and are looking of an alternative, well get a guitar teacher but if you had a teacher and he/she is constantly making you do grade work (which is a waste of time get good and then do grade 6) then go to BandFuse as you probably already know tab. That will make you life a lot easier or get another guitar teacher. So:

It's a draw.

For Experts
Generally experts play guitar to keep their hands in shape as RockSmith has AI(Artificial Intelligence) in backing tracks so if you start playing heavily it will play like a metal/hard rock band (different everytime) where BandFuse just has backing track to songs, RockBand doesn't include any of these features. So:

RockSmith wins!

Top Five Tips for increasing speed and intricacy

Just so you know I'm not a shredder but my speed is OK .http://3790a8qi2ey7kaeiqgmscs7m2o.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=UA-45069589-1
1.Posture
Having the right posture when playing guitar is crucial. When moving positions say the 5th fret to the 10th(stairway to heaven) you arm will hit or chest or something like that hampering your speed

2.Keep Your Fingers In Shape

A few years ago I stopped playing guitar for about a month or so i couldn't play literally(i was listening to pop music then so there was no need to learn a new Clapton solo).Even your not constantly playing the guitar everyday even if your playing keyboard your speed will go down slowly, this may seen obvious it's just they're quite a few lazy ones out there.Remember Van Halen walked around his house playing his guitar till his fingers bled.

3.Alternate picking

This really helps, at first you speed will be rubbish cos it takes a while to get used to alternate picking,it will get annoying but in the long term it will help.

4.Warm-ups

I know we aren't in a sports lesson but if you don't have starting exercises your fingers will just drop when playing a song so just start will a pentatonic scale in every position in every till the 10th this at the point on most guitars when your hand doesn't enter the cut away on Telecasters this is at the 12th fret.

5.Playing with to much tension
When you tense up when playing the guitar even if your playing slow your hammer on a pull-off will be extremely dodgy and vibrato and bend are incredibly hard do.

Squier Affinity Series: Telecaster Review

Its a good guitar loads of pros and few unfortunately major cons.

The guitar is pretty versatile, i use it from anything for prog rock to blues. The neck is made out of maple and the body alder, these are good quality woods for a beginner guitar. It can take quite a large amount of gain on a half descent amp but if your using a beginner amp (squier's are intermediate/beginner guitars) its awful the amp of hum you get so keep that in mind.Tuning not really that good but you can fix that up plus my guitar was second hand.DON'T change the strings as they start slacking even after a few months. The bridge single coil is pretty tangy and bright which is good if your playing country music or pop but can be easily be changed by changing the height of the pickups which a few twists of a screwdriver. Also works brilliantly with most effects.

6.5/10

Pros

•Light

•High gain

•Works great with effects

Top Five Guitar Riffs/Intros

5.Babe I'm gonna leave you
Doesn't really have a riff but the intro's -which is the same as most of the rest of the song- good

4.Welcome To The Jungle by Guns 'n' Roses

The best intro ever but the solo only the first 5 seconds of it sound good rest is just.... well noise.

3.Come As You Are  by Nirvana

Good riff but would have taken 2 minutes to come up with and its most peoples first guitar riff.Doesn't make it bad just makes others better.

2.Sunshine Of Your Love  by Cream

One of the best guitar riffs just gets over played during the song

1.BABY BY JUSTIN BEIBER

The harmony is just right the amount of guitar for that heavy metal song its crazy well done Beiber

WHO DO YOU THINK I AM. HE'S HARDLY A MUSICIAN!

1.Kashmir  by Led Zeppelin

Not many people actually know the name of this song.Other only like it for the riff but I don't know how many films this hasn't been used in.Brilliant riff and very recognisable .

Top ten Guitarists

Please comment, subscribe share and click on ads.Thank you.
10.Angus Young
Not brilliant but not completely rubbish.Sorry to all AC/DC fans.

9.Duane Allman
I really don't understand all the hype about this guy.We will all remember him as a great guitarist but no2 on the Rolling Stones magazine, come on.

8.Mark Knopfler
Also underrated like Slash but unlike Slash playing sloppy doesn't always equal great music.

7.Slash (Saul Hudson)
I think he's just a bit underrated just because he plays a bit sloppy doesn't mean he doesn't sound awesome.

6.Michael Angelo Batio
One of the most talented guitarist I have ever heard.Just doesn't sound good enough for non-metal ears.

5.Joe Satriani

I have to put a shredder in this and he's one of the best.

4.Rickey Medlocke
Not even on the Rolling Stones magazine.Listen to the song "free bird" at 6:20 on Youtube and listen that solo and he plays in time with another guitars just awesome

3.B.B King

Good old B. B King the best bluesmen that has ever lived. Unlike other bluesmen he has influenced other guitarist like Jimmy page.

2.Eric Clapton/Jimmy Page

Usually its hard for me to separate them and their former bands. They are just as good as each other it would have been joint with B.B King but they influenced more genres.

1.LIL WAYNE

One of the most infl... NOT!

1. JIMI HENDRIX
This guy deserves bold letters. How many top tens have you seen with Hendrix No2, NONE. Not necessarily the most influential but by all means the best!

Thanks for reading please comment and share!             Yes I forgot Jeff Beck and Chuck Berry.

Top Ten: rock, blues and metal bands

This is just a ranking of my favourite bands and information and this will top 10/11 month. If you agree please comment and share. These are just the bands I listen to.

10. Jimi Hendrix and the Experience.
Even though Hendrix is THE best guitarist there ever was.I think this was just a bit of a showman thing that produced some of the best songs ever but most of its was just Hendrix playing inhumanly fast only creating noise.

9. Dire Straits
They're good but I just find they're a bit inconsistent, by that I mean that if a song is 10 minutes long only 4 of those minutes will be good and 3 and half of that will be the solo and the other 30 seconds will be leading up to the solo on most of their song. The best song they produced with out a doubt is Sultans of Swing but their other songs don't live up to that standard.

8. Linkin Park
To be honest their just a bit soft, to much "nu" in the "metal". They have some half descent songs and some brilliant ones. Like the Beatles you get their songs stuck in your head at the wrong time and the wrong place, like in the middle of your GSCE's.They're also a bit to modern for my liking.

7.Creed
I generally think post-grunge sounds the same, so you really can't tell who copied who. They're a good band but just not good enough for the top 5.Atleast they didn't turn into a pop group (well maybe a little bit)  like maroon 5.

6. Nickelback
Pretty close between them and Creed, I just feel that they have a better quality of music and consistency. What knocked them down a few levels was that they cared more about marketing (like pop groups) and less about their own music, they just down graded over the years.

5.Dorje
A pretty small metal band, they would be No1 if it was top ten metal bands but its not, so it is what it is. Search them up on Youtube.Type in Dorje Aeromancy.

4.Derek and the Dominos
The brilliant blues group they could be no3 but i just don't think their songs influenced many people and had a catchy tune like other blues songs.

3.Nirvana
The icon of grunge without doubt but in my opinion grunge is covered up by distortion which just hides the players mistakes which is a shame, so there really is no way to put them any higher.

2.Guns 'n' Roses
Great band but some are just more original.

1.ONE DIRECTION
Only joking.

1. Cream/Led Zeppelin
Its a joint first. They're both as inspiring as each other.Cream influenced the blues rock and psychedelic rock side of things and Led Zeppelin the folk rock and hard rock side.

Other respectable bands

The Rolling Stones (an good band and would but them inbetween Nirvana and Guns 'n' Roses but its not top 11)
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Metallica (would have made it on the list but only have a few good songs)
Bob Marley and the Wailers (good songs but they are the only good reggae band which would make it unfair)
Pink Floyd (just not a fan)

Please comment and share. Thanks for reading.

Whats the point in playing guitar if you listen to pop

These days when I speak to beginner guitarists my age, I always ask what kind of music do you listen to and 99.9%  say pop.Realistically if you favourite song is Miley Cyrus: We Can't Stop and you ask your guitar teacher (who likes rock/blues etc) he/she is going to say 1. "i don't know that song"
2."that has no guitar in it' or 3."its just power chords its to easy for you". There are no pop instruments it's just Justin Beiber with auto tune turned up to full or a guy from one direction playing a Yamaha as if it's a 59'.

Rock music for people who don't think that new means better, with phones YES, with all tech YES but with music and guitars NO! Music has down-graded ever since the pop chart became dominant and people forget what a guitar solo is. All the roots of music have just disintegrated, blues and jazz are literally dead and rock is nearing that . The only way people no about any music but pop is either their parents, friends or by pure chance. Rock and blues aren't on the radio so no one has a chance to experiment with the music they listen to if they know no difference. If you under 18 and you have heard of Led Zeppelin or Cream the your in one of the small minorities in the world. Pop is like a disease its just takes over peoples lives and washes way any other music that they ever new but rock its with you for life.

Whats wrong with a "made in China" sign on your headstock

The "made in China" sign is generally a universal thing, it can be found on basically everything nowadays. It doesn't fend of customers when buying toys and phones but when placed on headstock of a guitar it becomes the ultimate repellent .

Usually when you head in to a guitar store you want to buy a guitar(if that is obvious enough) so you go up to the store assistant and say 'have you got a Gibson Les paul' . They could say yes or say they recommend a Epiphone Les Paul.So you try out the Epiphone, its sounds beautiful but its has the 'made in China' sign on the headstock.
The Gibson sounds just as nice as the Epiphone but it has that 'made in the USA' on it. Even though it  might look a tad better and have more work put into it I'm not the kind of person to pay £1500 extra on a better lacquering process and a name on a headstock etc.The only reason people get Gibson's and Fenders is because their either famous, rich or want bragging rights. If you famous fair enough because you don't hold a USA made guitar then no one is going to look up to you. If your rich, well who cares it's your money and your probably a collector or someone that has snobby friends to brag to. I understand some people just can not do without their Les Paul or Stratocaster mad by Gibson or Fender but think is. If you have the money you might as well but really spend that money on amp or more guitars so is it really worth paying £1500 for something that hardly changes the tone.
Well it's up to you.

Marshall EchoHead pedal review

Marshall make brilliant amps and pedals but does their delay pedal reach up to those standards read on to find out.

The pedal offers great tones and has 6 different modes HiFi (clear repeats), Analogue (which is a kind of vintage sound and warm), Tape Echo ( warm and subtle tones with degenerating echoes), Multi tap (gives dense repeats),Reverse (psychedelic tones) and Mod Filter (sweeping sound).

Well my first thing I would say DON'T use battery you will get about 30 minutes a playing. The best tone in my opinion is the Analogue but all the other tones are great apart from the Mod Filter which is absolutely awful. It also has a tap tempo socket.

The pedal is brilliant for the money even though its made in china. The over looks of this are not very appealing and I would always recommend a boss delay pedal even though it my set you back another £50. Only about half of the tones you can get from this meet up to the standards of a boss pedal. If your looking for a cheap pedal this is something for you but if your looking for something higher class get a boss pedal.

This has been a short review look at my Gibson vs Fender post hope you enjoyed
it

4/5 for features
3/5 for Tones
2/5 for looks
4.5/5 for modes
4/5 overall

Les paul vs stratocaster Gibson vs Fender

Well, Gibson hold the creation of the truss rod and Les Paul which revolutionised the electric guitar while Fender have the most iconic guitar in history the Stratocaster, which is number one, read on to find out.

Fender's most popular guitar and most iconic Stratocaster starts with a £100 price tag but with a Squier logo on the head stock to Eric Claptons gold leaf guitar with sold for £293,392.16. Generally made with ash, alder or poplar and limited edition versions made out of mahogany, basswood or koa.
They all have maple tops and necks and pau ferro, maple, ebony or rosewood fingerboards .There is plenty variety to suit your taste.  A down fall on the Stratocasters side is the horrible lacquering on the back of their necks, which make your hands sticky after 30 minutes of playing on the lower range guitars. The polyurethane lacquer ages horribly unlike the Les Paul and American Stratocasters nitrocellulose lacquer . Fender offers a pretty reasonable price range and more products than Gibson but unlike Gibson they're not consistent with their ranges. Their low range can be just as good as a Stagg or another low range guitar but as soon as you hit mid range and premium they are up there with Epiphone and Gibson. But a major plus on Fender's side is that they own JacksonOrpheum, Tacoma guitars, Squier and Brand X amps , Kaman Music Corporation, which owns Ovation guitar, LP and Toca hand percussion products, Gibraltar Hardware, Genz Benz Amplification, Hamer Guitars and they distribute Takamine guitars and Gretsch drums.

Gibson owns the Les Paul design which is used by many great guitarists such as Slash,Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. It's one of the most poplar guitars on the market but can be pretty pricey but still the low range(starting at £559) is the best low range you can get but the high being the best  is questionable. Usually made with one , two or three piece mahogany bodies, rarely swamp ash and a maple top with aa,aaa or even aaaa flame top . There's nitrocellulose lacquering on all of their guitars, on the lower range guitars grain textured version (in my opinion it's better and provides warmer tone). There's either a mahogany or maple neck with a ebony , rosewood or granadillo fingerboard (granadillo only on the new Studio's). With a small choice of combinations its easier to get your favourite tone with a Stratocaster but unlike a Stratocaster every single Gibson is made in the USA so your all ways going to get high standards. There are always going to be flaws but that creates character.

At the end of the day its your choice but in my opinion Gibson offers higher quality and more character but part of the package is ridiculous prices . Fender guitars  good for the money and offers good tones but you but a Gibson for the name on the headstock and the pearl inlays. A stratocaster whether made by fender or Stagg is always going to be a common to people that don't play the guitar or beginners . Having a Les Paul shaped guitar is always gonna be funky and relatively uncommon to any pop fan (rock and blues is better) which is what the majority of people are . So I guess you are looking for a straight answer well here its is: Gibson vs Fender ?

Gibson wins, but its up to you.
